Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png + 12.png Flash and Teleport should be used for Toplane!

These two summoner spells are the ideal summoner spells to take toplane. I would recommend using TP as you can help your other laners, it also allows you to get back to lane quicker in the early game. You should always take Flash because it can be used offensively defensively and whenever you need it. It is a very reliable summoner spell.

Flash should be taken like suggested above, it is a very reliable summoner spell and should always be taken. Smite is also a must have for Junglers as it allows you to clear jungle camps quicker and allows you to secure objectives such as Dragons, Baron and Rift Herald.

Diese beiden Beschwörer Zauber sind die idealen für die Obere Linie. Blitz sollte benutzt werden aus den Gründen welche schon oben genannt wurden, es ist einfach der beste Beschwörer Zauber. Zerschmettern ist ein Grundlegender Zauber da dieser es euch erlaubt die Dschungel Monster schneller zu töten und auch wichtige Objekte wie den Drachen oder Baron Nashor für euer team zu sichern. Außerdem könnt ihr nur mit dem Beschwörer Zauber Zerschmettern den Dschungel Gegenstand käuflich bei dem Händler erwerben.

9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage is recommended because you gain extra early game damage and damage for your abilities. It allows you to last hit minions easier and clear jungle camps quicker. It also gives you more damage when fighting enemies

9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
is good for any champion as it gives you some early game magic resist that will prevent some damage vs enemy champions that are AP. Even though minions and jungle camps do not deal magic damage, it will good vs the enemies that you will gank. Magic resist is also good if you face AP magic damage champions in the toplane.

9x Greater Seal of Armor are a must have on Kayn. You need armor to protect yourself from enemy auto attacks and jungle autos.

3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage are recommended as you gain extra early game damage (Read above as it is basically the same information)
 

OPTIONAL: 

3x Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction are okay to take if you need some early game cooldown reduction, taking 3 of these and 6 magic resist are okay for Kayn.

Da  Dschungel Monster nur normalen Schaden anrichten wird oft gesagt dass man als Dschungler keine Magieresistenz mitnehmen sollte. Jedoch hilft dir diese Magieresistenz wenn du einen Hinterhalt gegen die Helden im gegnerischen Team planst, ohne diese Magieresistenz passiert es schnell das man als Dschungler im frühen spielverlauf sehr schnell gegen den z.B. gegnerischen Magier im frühen spielverlauf sehr schnell stirbt. Aber auch wenn du auf der Oberen Linie spielst ist Magieresistenz sehr nützlich wenn du gegen einen Helden spielst welcher Magischen Schaden anrichtet.

9xGroße Sigel der Rüstung sind ein Muss auf Kayn. Du brauchst Rüstung um dich selbst vor gegnerischen Attacken zu schützen außerdem richtet jedes Dschungel Monster normalen schaden an.

9 Große Quintessenz des Angriff Schadens ist empfohlen da du früh im spiel Schaden durch diese Gewinnst (Es sind eigentlich die gleichen Argumente wie bei dem Großen Zeichen des Angriff Schaden)

OPTIONAL:

3x Große Glyphen der Abklingzeit Verringerung sind okay wenn du schon früh im spiel Abklingzeit möchtest, es ist okay ein wenig Magieresistenz für diese zu Opfern.

To be brief: You want to either take Thunderlords or Fevor. You can take both depending on what play style you want to play. If you are jungling it is probably better to go Thunderlords, remember to take Runic Affinity which gives you extra buff duration.

After playing games with both Thunderlords and Fevor i believe that thunderlords is better. This is because you can proc thunderlords with Q W and Autoing. It is very easy to proc thunderlords.

Um es kurz zu sagen: Man sollte entweder Erlass des Donnerfürsten oder Inbrunst der Schlacht nehmen. Beide Auswahlmöglichkeiten sind gut je nachdem welchen Spielstile du Spielen möchtest. Wenn du im Dschungel spielst ist es wahrscheinlich besser Erlass des Donnerfürsten auszuwählen, denk dran Runenaffinität im Gerissenheit zweig auszuwählen da es dir extra Zeit auf die Verbesserungen, welche manche Dschungel Monster dir geben, erlaubt.

Nachdem ich einige Spiele mit Erlass des Donnerfürsten und Inbrunst der Schlacht gespielt habe, glaube ich dass Erlass des Donnerfürsten besser ist. Dies ist der fall weil man Erlass des Donnerfürsten sehr schnell und einfach auslösen kann mit einer Q W und einer normalen Attacke.

Kayn's Passive is "The Darkin Scythe"

Kayn: Dealing damage to enemies will drop orbs that are automattically collected filling a bar above Kayn's Portrait. Once the bar is filled he can choose to become Rhaast or become Shadow Assassin, the choice is based on wheather he has damaged more ranged or melee champions, after 4 minutes you can choose the other. To activate the transformation you must be on the base platform.

Shadow Assassin: Kayn's Basic attacks and abilities deal bonus magic damage.

Rhaast: Kayn heals from the damaging spells he uses on enemies.

Kayn's Q is "Reaping Slash"

Kayn: Kayn dashes foward dealing physical damage to enemies he passes through and swings his scythe dealing damage again to surrounding enemies.

Shadow Assassin:Reaping Slash is same as Kayn "Kayn dashes foward dealing physical damage to enemies he passes through and slams his scythe dealing damage again to surrounding enemies."

Rhaast: Kayn dashes foward and deals bonus percent health damage against all enemies except minions

Kayn's W is "Blade's Reach"

Kayn: Kayn slams his scythe dealing damage to all enemies in a line and slowing them (Animation Locked.)

Shadow Assassin:  Scythe slams to the ground dealing damage and slows enemies, but the animation isn't target locked so you can move and use this ability at the same time.

Rhaast: The Scythe deals damage and knocks up enemies (Animation Locked.)

Kayn's E is "Shadow Step"

Kayn:Kayn gains a brief movement speed buff and can ignore terrain for 1.5 seconds. Immobilizing effects will interrupt Shadow Step (crowd control CC.) Kayn also heals himself when he enters the terrain only if he is not in combat with enemy champions, If this is the case then the duration is increased to 5 Seconds

Shadow Assassin:
Kayn can enter and re-enter terrrainand is immune to slows.

Rhaast:

Kayn's Ultimate is "Umbral Trespass"

Kayn: Dealing damage to enemy champions will mark them for up 2.5 seconds. Choosing to ultimate then will make Kayn untargetable for the duration- following the enemy champion around until either the duration has ended or you have reactivated it. Kayn deals damage to the target when exiting.

Shadow Assassin:
Umbral Tresspass range increases and reset the cooldown of his passive.

Rhaast:
Umbral Tresspass base damage is replaced with maximum health damage and heals Kayn according to the targets maximum health.

Schattenassassine:Verursacht während der ersten Kampfsekunden gegen Champions zusätzlichen magischen Schaden.

Der Düstere:Heilt sich um einen Teil des verursachten Zauberschadens an Champions.


Q – SENSENWIRBEL

Kayn springt nach vorn und trifft Gegner in der Nähe seiner Zielposition. Sowohl der Sprung als auch der Treffer verursachen normalen Schaden. Sensenwirbel verursacht zusätzlichen Schaden an Monstern.

Der Düstere:Diese Fähigkeit verursacht zusätzlichen Schaden an allen Gegnern außer Vasallen in Höhe eines Prozentsatzes des Lebens.


W – KLINGENSCHLAG

Verursacht Schaden in einer geraden Linie, die alle getroffenen Gegner beträchtlich verlangsamt.

Schattenassassine:Hinterlässt einen lebenden Schatten, der an Kayns Stelle Klingenschlag ausführt. Die Klinge des lebenden Schattens hat eine größere Reichweite.

Der Düstere:Klingenschlag schleudert getroffene Ziele für kurze Zeit in die Luft.


E – SCHATTENSCHRITT

Kayn erhält kurzzeitig erhöhtes Lauftempo und kann einige Augenblicke lang durch Wände gehen. Wenn er eine Wand betritt, heilt er sich etwas und die Dauer von Schattenschritt wird enorm verlängert. Falls sich Kayn im Kampf mit gegnerischen Champions befindet, wird die Dauer nicht verlängert.

Schattenassassine:Erhält bei Aktivierung von Schattenschritt zusätzliches Lauftempo und ist immun gegen Verlangsamung.


R – FINSTERE HEIMSUCHUNG

Kayn kann einen nahen Gegner befallen, dem er gerade Schaden zugefügt hat. Während der Heimsuchung kann Kayn einige Sekunden lang nicht anvisiert werden. Wird die Fähigkeit währenddessen erneut aktiviert, endet der Effekt vorzeitig. Kayn befreit sich dann aus dem Körper des Opfers und verursacht hohen Schaden.

Schattenassassine:Finstere Heimsuchung kann aus der Entfernung gewirkt werden und setzt den zusätzlichen magischen Schaden von Kriegssense der Düsteren zurück, nachdem Kayn sein Opfer verlassen hat.

Der Düstere:Finstere Heimsuchung verursacht zusätzlichen Schaden in Höhe eines Prozentsatzes des maximalen Lebens des Ziels und heilt den Düsteren.

Starting Items

    Jungle starting items
    Take this if you are in a bad matchup. For example if you're vs someone you are not comfortable in winning against, the champion is ranged and will harrass you alot or they are a counter.
    Take this if you are in a favourable matchup that does not do alot of damage or if you are comfortable in winning against.

Core Items

    If you are going jungle then you should take this build: We are using both Defensive and Attack damage because of the possible forms of Kayn.
    If you are playing Toplane then i suggest this build. Again, because we don't know what the form you will be taking is i have gone for both AD and Tank.
    Choose what smite you want to pick. I recommend the White ones because they allow you to have 2 wards.

Situational Items

    Thornmail Updated in Patch 7.14: Item now gives health and applies Grievous Wounds to attackers, Build patch has changed and gives less armor but gives 250 Health.
    Randuin's Omen Updated in Patch 7.14: The build path has changed and now grants more Health- Buy this item if you're playing vs a heavy AD focused team.
    Bramble Vest New Item Patch 7.14: Armor item that should be built vs heavy AD teams, grants 35 Armor and has a Good passive that deals magic damage back to attackers.
    If you are ahead then you can pick up a different damage item early game and push your advantage. Beware this is high risk high reward if you push your advantage then it will pay off.
    Depending on the enenmy team comp you should build the boosts to whatever suits the game.
    Defensive items that are viable on Kayn

Because Lolking changes the build order for the items here they are in order of build:

FOR JUNGLE:

1400.png - 1001.png -  3071.png - 3156.png - 3026.png - 3143.png

For jungle, you should get your jungler item first choose either Cinderhulk or Warrior Smite depending on what your team needs, if you need to be abit tankier then go Cinderhulk- if you can go Damage then build Warrior. After you have got your jungleer item upgraded, you should get boots. Upgrade these boots to either Ninja Tabi, Merc Treads or Swifties. After that you should get Black cleaver and Maw. After that i would recommend going GA. I recommend GA 5th because it will be around the time where any mistake can cause the loss of the game. Getting GA is cheesy way to make sure that a team fight can be won by the enemy focusing you twice. Your final item should be Randuin's Omen, this is because it was recently updated and is very good on brusiers now.

FOR TOPLANE:

You can Buy either: Ghostblade, Maw or Black cleaver as your first item. Alternativly, you can buy Hydra First item.

Black Cleaver Gives: 400 Health, 40 Attack damage and 20% Cooldown Reduction. This item is a must have on Kayn because it increases his health and damage output, but also increases the amount of times he can use his abilities.

3142.png
Youmuu's Ghostblade gives 55 damage and 10% cooldown reduction. This item is great on assassins and should be brought on Kayn as early as possible, the active of the item gives a slight movement speed boost.

1001.png
Boots grand extra movement speed, depending on which one you choose you can either get extra magic resist or armor. You should pick Merc treads if the enemy has heavy CC or heavy AP team comp. If the enemy is mostly AD and has alot of auto attack damage then go Ninja Tabi's

3156.png
Maw gives 45 Magic Resist, 50 attack damage and 10% cooldown Reduction. This item will help you get to max cooldown. This item is good vs enemies that deal magic damage. Upon taking magical damage that would reduce health to 30% then it would grant a shield that absorbs 300% magic damage for 5 seconds.

3026.png
Guardian Angel gives Kayn 30 armor and 40 Attack damage. This item is really good, not because of its stats but because of its passive. Upon taking lethal damage (basically dieing 0 HP) you will restore 50% of your base health after 4 seconds.

3143.png
Randiuns Omen is a good item and gives 400 Health and 60 Armor. This item should be taken because it decreases damage and slows enemy atttack speed, it also provides a active that slows units around him.

Da Lolking die Kauf Reihenfolge für die Gegenstände ändert sind die Gegenstände hier noch einmal in der richtigen Reihenfolge.


Für den Dschungel :

Für den Dschungel solltest du zuerst dein Dschungel Gegenstand wählen. Dieser sollte entweder Glutkoloss oder Krieger. Je nach dem was dein Team braucht, wenn du ein wenig besser überleben willst dann solltest du Glutkoloss wählen wenn du Schaden machen möchtest dann Krieger. Nachdem du deinen Dschungel Gegenstand verbessert hast solltest du Schuhe Kaufen. Verbessere diese Schuhe zu entweder Ninja-Tabi, Merkurs Schuhe oder Stiefel der Wendigkeit. Danach solltest du das Schwarze Beil und den Schlund von Malmortius Kaufen. Danach würde ich den Schützenden Engel empfehlen. Ich schlage den Schützenden Engel als fünften Gegenstand vor da das Spiel dann an dem Zeitpunkt ist an welchem jeder Fehler das Spiel entscheiden kann. Da ist ein zweites Leben sehr gut da du damit sicher sein kannst dass die Gegner dich zweimal fokussieren müssen was natürlich Zeit kostet und dein Team mit dieser extra Zeit das Spiel gewinnen kann. Dein letztes Item sollte Randuin’s Omen sein da es vor kurzer Zeit erneuert wurde und nun sehr gut auf Kräftigen Helden ist.



Für die obere Linie:

Du kannst entweder Geistklinge, Schlund von Malmortius oder das Schwarze Beil als deinen ersten Gegenstand Kaufen. Als Alternative kannst du auch die Gefräßige Hydra als ersten Gegenstand erwerben.



Schwarzes Beil gibt dir: 400 Leben, 40 Angriffsschaden und 20% Abklingzeitverringerung. Dieser Gegenstand ist ein Muss auf Kayn da es dir Leben und Schaden gibt, aber es dir auch die Möglichkeit gibt deine Fähigkeiten öfter einzusetzen. Dazu kommt noch die Ständige Verbesserung deiner Laufgeschwindigkeit wenn du einen Gegner Attackierst.



Youmuus Geisterklinge gibt dir 55 Angriffsschaden und 10% Abklingzeitverringerung. Dieser Gegenstand ist perfekt für Assassinen und sollte auf Kayn so früh wie möglich gekauft werden, die aktive Fähigkeit des Gegenstandes gibt dir zudem auch eine kurz andauernde Verbesserung auf deine Laufgeschwindigkeit.


Schuhe geben extra Laufgeschwindigkeit und je nachdem welche Verbesserung du für deine Schuhe Auswählst bekommst du auch extra Rüstung oder Magieresistenz. Wenn die Gegner sehr viele Kontrolleffekte haben solltest du die Merkur Schuhe wählen da diese die Wirkungszeit der Kontrolleffekte verringert. Wenn das Gegnerteam fast nur Normalen Schaden haben und sehr viele Automatische Attacken ausführen solltest du Ninja Tabi’s Kaufen.


Schlund von Malmortius  gibt dir 45 Magieresistenz, 50 Angriffsschaden und 10% Abklingzeitverringerung. Dieser Gegenstand  hilft dir die Maximale Abklingzeitverringerung zu erlangen von 40%. Außerdem ist es ein guter Gegenstand gegen Helden mit Magischen schaden, da es dir einen Schild gibt welcher Magischen schaden Absorbiert wenn du weniger als 30% Leben hast. Außerdem wird dir auch 20 Angriffsschaden, 10% Zaubervampir und 10% Lebensraub erlaubt sobald das Magieschild aktiv wird.


Schutzengel gibt dir 30 Rüstung und 40 Angriffsschaden. Dieser Gegenstand ist wirklich gut, nicht wegen der Rüstung und Angriffsschaden, sondern wegen der Passiven Fähigkeit. Diese Erlaubt es dir nämlich ein zweites Leben zu haben. Das heißt sobald du stirbst wirst du nach 4 Sekunden an der Stelle deines Todes wieder mit 50% Leben (der Basiswert dazu zählt nicht das Leben welches du durch Gegenstände erhältst) und Mana wieder zum Leben erweckt. Diese Passive hat jedoch eine sehr lange Abklingzeit und falls die Passive ausgelöst wurde und du noch genug Gold hast kannst du überlegen ob du dir einen anderen Gegenstand Kaufst.



Randuins Omen ist ein guter Gegenstand welcher dir 400 Leben und 60 Rüstung gibt. Dieser Gegenstand sollte gekauft werden da er den Gegnerischen schaden Verringert und die Angriffsgeschwindigkeit des gegners verlangsamt. Des Weiteren hat es noch eine Aktive Fähigkeit welche es dir Erlaubt Gegner in deiner Umgebung zu verlangsamen.


Bitte Beachte:

Kayn ist immernoch ein sehr neuer Held, dies bedeutet das sich dieses Handbuch oft verändert. Das heißt wenn ich neue einsichten in den Champion bekomme und neue Sachen ausprobiere ändere ich hier auch alles und werde Bauweisen optimieren. :)

Renekton is a medium matchup because he is a AD brusier and can deal alot of damage early game. You want to focus on farming and staying healthy. Play safe and sacrifice CS to stay in XP range, ask for ganks too. He has lots of damage early because of his fury bar. Play around this.

Tips and Tricks to help you improve your Gameplay!

  1. Once you have gained enough orbs to change your form you should return to base and change immediately, this is because of the passive change.
  2. You should use your E as close to the wall as possible, this is to make sure you get the full effect of the ability and not waste it. The duration of this ability is short so you want to get close and use it to its full potential.
  3. When using his E make sure to not be in combat to get the full duration of the ability, if you are damaged and use the ability then you will not get a very long duration.
  4. Nearby enemy champions will be alerted to show that Kayn is nearby in the terrain. So keep this in mind when you gank.
  5. When ganking your pathing is very unique, you can gank from anywhere because of your E. You should you use the terrain to your advantage.
  6. You can use Kayn's E to escape from enemies by running through walls and terrain to escape.
  7. Kayn's Q also provides a small dash that can be used to escape enemies.
  8. Kayn's Rhaast Form can provide CC for your team, using your W will knock up enemies allowing you to either escape or start team fights. Kayn's Shadow Assassin W can be used to slow enemies aiding your escape.
  9. Your ultimate follows enemy champions, if they flash then you follow them- don't get out to early if they still have Flash
  10. You become untargetable while in your ultimate. You can use this to your advantage by dodging abilities or CC.
  11. You can completely change the way you play Kayn by changing transformation, If the game is going south or you need to change your playstyle then return to base and transform.
  12. You can go around the map quickly with your E. Use this to your advantage when enemy squishies are alone.
  13. Thunderlords is easy to activate with a Simple Q W combo.
  14. You can use your E even when you're not near a wall. You can use it to escape by running away slightly quicker.
  15. Kayn's Q provides a small dash that can be used to get over certain walls.

What form should you take and When? Back to Top

In the early game you want to take the form that will counter your enemy laner and counter the enemy. You need to decide which of his transformations will benefit and help your team in the game.


If the enemy team has lots of squishy champions then go Shadow Assassin:

Benefits:

  • In Shadow Assassin form you can deal burst damage to the enemies.
  • You can use the terrain to your advantage to maneuver around the map and pick of enemy champions.
  • You can dodge abilities with your dashes and ultimate, your W also provides a slow allowing you to get closer to enemies. 

Drawbacks:

  • Squishy.
  • Lack of Big CC.
  • Can be kited easily vs a good player.

If the enemy team has alot of tanks or brusiers then go Rhaast:

Benefits:

  • Hard to kill.
  • His abilities regenerate his health.
  • Your W can be used to start fights or defend your team mates.

Drawbacks:

  • Lack of burst damage.
  • Can be kited easily vs a good player.
  • Needs team to follow up on his CC and pick potentual due to his lack of damage.

Slow Pushing

Slow pushing in its simplest sense is killing the enemy caster minions. This results in the enemy minion wave doing less damage to your minion wave (which also means your minion wave does more damage to theirs) while also allowing a large wave of yours to build up. This is because the pushing minion wave still requires a large amount of time to kill the “tank” melee minions. In this video, you can see how large a minion wave can amass if left untouched. As with fast pushing, the term “slow” refers to the total time that the wave will reach the enemy turret. This is to say that you will have turret pressure in a while, or that the wave will push slowly.


The same rules that applied to freezing apply to slow pushing. If the wave lies in the yellow zone, you will need an additional two minions in order to be able to slow push. This is important because sometimes you  may think that a wave will push; however, because of the fact that the enemy reinforcements will arrive sooner, the wave that you thought would push actually does not. Again, if you have greater than four caster

minions over the enemy, you will guarantee a push at any part of the lane.


Remember: you can create slow pushes in ways without just killing the caster minions, as minion pushes are based on wave power rather than “killing the casters”. With this in mind, the more wave power that you have, the harder the push is.


When it comes to slow pushing,you can abuse the travel time of minions resulting in bigger waves crashing into the enemy's structures. Due to the nature of the lanes, slow pushes are commonly used for some of the following purposes:

  1. To set up a cross map objective play.

  2. To deny massive amounts of experience & gold by threatening a jungle dive.

  3. To base, roam, or ward.

  4. To harass and siege structures.


Slow pushes will probably be used more than fast pushing because they allow for better objective plays, denial of large minion waves, or creating map pressure. Slow pushes often result in applying pressure to the lane it was started in, which gives your team room to navigate around the map and set up wards or an objective from the numbers advantage. It's important that you quickly make use of the pressure you gain from the slow push; the window usually will not last that long.


Most of the time beyond laning phase you will use a slow push for securing an objective as well as giving yourself a wave to siege the enemy's base. When slow pushing in a side lane, the majority of time it will be done after laning phase; however, the act of slow pushing during the laning phase can be done to win certain matchups. This is common by the ranged in a ranged vs melee matchup because the melee is going to be overextend and cannot dive into large minion waves.


Slow pushes are also how you obtain a high creep score. When you slow push into an enemy turret, the wave will bounce and in turn slow push for the enemy team. This means that you will be able to collect a large amount of minions in a short amount of time while improving your creep score.


Freezing

Freezing is the act of last hitting a minion at the very last possible second to avoid pushing your wave. Freezing can also refer to the lack of hitting a minion in order to create a wave-powerdifferential.This can be seen in this example video:


Orianna “holds” (and freezes) the minion wave in order to force the enemy minion wave to walk a longer distance while also ensuring the enemy has more wave-power. This results in all of Orianna’s minions dying faster than all of Fizz’s minions, and hence causes Fizz to be forced to overextend for creeps. Orianna can then position aggressively to deny Fizz experience providing that she has adequate ward coverage or information on the jungler. Remember, lack of information is also information. The term “fast” refers to the time in which the minion wave will push to the enemy turret, and also the window in which you will have turret pressure.


A good freeze can often increase pressure in your lane because the enemy laner will either:

  1. Get denied from the freeze and won't receive jungle help which results in you gaining an

experience and gold lead allowing you to punish your lane opponent.

  1. Will result in you forcing the enemy jungle to break the freeze which applies pressure in your lane and opens the map for your jungler to make a play, or allow your lanes to adjust according to the new information on the jungler.

  2. Will result in a 2v2 in the mid lane (this is the riskiest play of the three) as the enemy jungler comes to break the freeze and your jungler is there to counter gank. This often will benefit you as they hopefully won't have vision of your jungler, but as previously stated this is the riskiest possibility because there are a lot of variables.


The severity of your freeze will depend on the amount of caster minions that the enemy creep wave has. As a rule, look at [number of full hp caster minions -1] to see the amount of minion waves that you’ll be able to freeze. Be Careful:freezing on a cannon wave is almost impossible due to RNG.


Pay attention to these critical zones. The enemy will have to have a certain amount of minions in order to properly execute a freeze depending on the positioning of the lane. If the enemy wave has over 4 caster minions, and you’re ahead, you can prevent the enemy laner from playing the game by freezing them out and zoning by abusing the minion aggro range (350 units or 3.5 Teemos).


Look to freeze in these situations:

  1. When you are getting pressured by an enemy jungler, making it too dangerous to overextend.

  2. When you want to deny as much experience and gold as you can to the enemy laners while remaining in a safe position.

  3. When you are slightly behind but there are no roaming opportunities.

  4. If your opponent bases and the wave is pushing to you (but will not bounce against your turret). This is an alternate to pushing before basing and will deny more experience and gold.


NOTE: Often you’ll need to “trim” a wave down in order to properly freeze it. So, if you see five caster minions coming at you, you may need need to reduce it down to three caster minions so that you can tank them (and not let them go into the turret) while saving yourself from taking 20 damage per second. Having a suboptimal freeze is probablybetter than a bounce!



Most of the time you want to freeze the lane closer to your turret, as it offers a bit of protection as well as forces the enemy laners to overextend, making them susceptible to ganks from your jungler. Freezes are relatively safe for you to use in your lane, and can often have big outcomes by either denying the enemy laner or setting up a play with your jungler. Be careful! If you freeze, the enemy may go to roam somewhere else, so make sure to try to obtain ward coverage before attempting to freeze, or alert your team that the enemy is missing.
